Legalization endorsement

The legalization endorsement is the official text that a notary public adds at the end of a translation or copy in order to legalize it. It carries a registration number, the date, the notary stamp and signature.

What it confirms

On a translation, the endorsement confirms that the signature on the document belongs to an authorized translator registered with the notary office. On a copy, it confirms that the photocopy matches the original presented. In both cases, it gives the document official value.

Why it matters

Without the endorsement, a translation remains a text signed by the translator, and a copy remains a photocopy. The endorsement is the step that ties the document to an identifiable notary and to a verifiable registration number.
